Committee Structure and Functions (Establishment)
The committee has been constituted as per Bye-law 2(4) with the objective of creating a well-equipped market yard for the sale of agricultural produce, eliminating unfair practices prevailing in the market system, and ensuring that farmers within its area of operation receive fair prices for their agricultural produce. The said Market Committee was established on 11th August 1942 under the provisions of the C.P. and Berar Act, 1932. Approval to the internal regulations of the institution was granted under the Maharashtra Agricultural Produce Marketing (Development and Regulation) Act, 1963. The revised bye-laws of the institution were approved by the Office of the Hon. District Deputy Registrar, Cooperative Societies, on 27.04.2011.
The registered address of the Committee’s Head Office is Main Road, Sindi (Railway), Taluka Seloo, District Wardha, and the sub-market is located at Seloo. As per Government Circulars, the members of the Committee represent the following groups.

The election of the said Board of Directors was held on 28.04.2023 and it assumed office on 15.05.2023. The term of the Board of Directors is till 14.05.2028.

As per Government Resolution dated 13th June 2017, the provision for inclusion of representatives from the Municipal Council, Panchayat Samiti, and Processing Constituency in the Board of Directors of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee has been abolished from the date of the said order.
The Committee should make efforts to ensure the development of the main market along with the sub-market and take due care to ensure that farmers receive fair and assured prices for their produce. Further, necessary proposals should be submitted to the Government level to obtain financial assistance for market development and to ensure overall growth of the Market Committee.
Objectives and Working Method
The Agricultural Produce Market Committee has been established with the objective of ensuring fair prices to agricultural produce by selling notified commodities under Section 2(3) through open auctions, and to curb malpractices in purchase and sale transactions. Under Section 29(b)(d), construction of various movable and immovable properties and development of the market area is the primary objective of the Committee. The Committee also aims to construct warehouses for storage of farmers’ produce, ensure proper supervision of stored goods, and conduct auctions by establishing the main market yard in accordance with the provisions of the Act, Rules, and Bye-laws.
Area of Operation
The area of operation of the Market Committee is limited to all villages in Seloo Taluka, covering a total of 172 villages. This includes 1 Municipal Council, 1 Nagar Panchayat, 63 Gram Panchayats, and 37 Service Cooperative Societies.
